What Happens When I have The Treatment?
On the visit, I will go through the consultation form to determine your health and lifestyle, plus any on going illness and to find out what you want to get out of the treatment. I will then use my hands to apply pressure to the feet, the application and effect is unique to each person.

As a trained reflexologist I can detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet or hands, and by working these points bring into balance the corresponding organ or system of the body.

Therapists often talk about removing “blockages”. These are crystalline deposits thought to be uric acid and calcium which gather at nerve endings. Reflexologist are trained to detect these blockages and imbalances.

These may be felt by the therapist as a hard, swollen, gritty, bubbly, popping or hollow area and to the client they may feel tender or painful. By using the correct massage technique these crystals can be broken down, enabling the body to eliminate toxins and unblock these pathways.

This in turn improves the functioning of the related organ or body part. It facilitates the body to improve circulation, regain balance, heal itself and improve overall health. A treatment usually last for 60 minutes and the course of the treatment will depend on the individual.
How will I feel after a reflexology treatment?
After one or two treatments, your body may respond in a definite way. Most people note a sense of wellbeing and blissful relaxation, being in tune with their body, both body and mind are rested, some people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful from emotional release, but it is important to note that this is temporary and part of the healing process.

If you feel lethargic, try to relax, eat a healthy meal and help your body get back into balance. If you fell nauseous, drink plenty of water and the feeling should pass, if it doesn’t you can try drinking some ginger tea. I am happy to offer after care advice for questions which may arise after treatments.
I am pregnant. When can I start treatment  ?
I am able to treat from 16 weeks, and at each week my treatment plan will change, and I recommend weekly treatment from 32 weeks. Studies have shown that starting reflexology from 32 weeks can reduce the need for induction by 70% as well as reduce labour time, thus reducing the impact of stress and anxiety allowing your body to naturally and effectively prepare for childbirth.
How effective and exactly how does Reflexology induce labour?
The days leading to childbirth can be quite stressful, often the doctor gives mom a date for the arrival of her little one and if she is over that date, mom can get quite stressed. Reflexology may stimulate the release of oxytocin by the body to encouraging the onset of uterine contractions naturally, keeping the mother in control, and is more effective than a hot curry.

I have a very high success rate with previous clients. The treatment will help to improve and stimulate several conditions that occur during the process and as a consequence, help the mother to better administrate her energies towards this task as well. Reflexology is also effective for pain management during labor.

Labour inducing treatment can be painful, this is because starting off labout when it is well over due, the treatment is not only matter of relaxation, but also igniting labour, which means waking up body that might be stiff or sluggish due to life style you've had during the pregnancy.

If you have not received any reflexology treatment during the pregnancy, and if you have accumulation of crystalline deposits, then it is like that the treatment will be quite painful as pressure is a lot deeper than usual treatment.
How does Reflexology help natural labour?
It was discovered that the effects of Reflexology on labour outcomes were outstanding. Some had labour times of only 2 hours, some 3 hours. The 20‑25 year olds had an average time of first stage labour of 5 or 6 hours, as did the first time mothers (text book average is 16-24 hours).

Second time mothers, 26‑30 year olds, seemed to have longer labours, (and may have fallen into the group experiencing more social stress). The second stage of labour lasted an average of 16 minutes, (compared to the text book expectancy of 1-2 hours). In this small study, it was found that there was very little difference between the labour times of 30 year olds and 40 year olds, even though many of the 40-year-olds were first time mothers, (who had 2‑3 hour labours).

Normal Deliveries 89.0%
Inductions 5.4%
Forceps 2.7%
Elective Caesarian Section 2.7%
Emergency Caesarian Section 5.4%
Immunological Stress 8.1 % (13.0% in Newham District)

In a separate study in an antenatal clinic, Dr. Motha had found that weekly Reflexology treatments of between 30 to 45 minutes normalised hypertension, avoiding the usual hospital admittance for 48 hours’ rest and observation.

What is holistic approach ?
It is a concept that human being is multi dimentional. When you have physical symptom, we also look at psychological, emotional and spiritual aspect.

Your symptom may be related to a long term repeating issue caused by unconscious pattern that might be creating blockages.

I work on blockages by working on particularly hard or tight part of the feet to increasing blood flow, hence sending more oxigen and nutrients to the contracted part of the body.  In turn you may experience overcoming limited belief which was causing physical symptoms.
How Does It Feel and How Long Does It Take to Get the Benefit?
Some experience blissful feeling of stagnated enegy has been moved and release of tention without any pain at all and some experience good pain during the treatment. Strength of pain is depends on how much you have been accumulating crystalline deposit. The crystalline deposits are thought to be uric acid and calcium which gather at nerve endings over the years depends on your diet and life style, and how long they have not been moved with good circuration and massage.

So when they are touched for the first few times, crystaline deposits would push nerve endings and create pain. They will eventually be eliminated when they are massaged and moved regularly for few months or sometimes quicker. Increased circuration and blood flow hence  more oxygen and nutients to corresponding parts of body to be detoxed and restored if they have been under performing. Good circuration and energy flow brings body homeostatis - balance to the body and warms the body.

Good circulation and warm body is the best condition for natural self healing ability to be in tip-top, and cancer and other disease dislike this warm environment.
